The Bethesda Music Series presents singer Richard Ford and the Heritage Chorale of New Haven in a moving and lively program of African American Spirituals, featured in celebration of Black History Month. The hour-long concert takes place at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 450 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, on Sunday, February 18, at 4:00pm. Ford’s powerful and expressive baritone voice has long been appreciated by music lovers in the New Haven community. He is active as a soloist and choral singer and brings great emotion and understanding to the rich African American Spiritual tradition. The Heritage Chorale of New Haven, directed by Jonathan Q. Berryman, features 40 singers that celebrate a choral tradition unique to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Ford and the Heritage Chorale will present selections that honor the great legacy of faith and hope found in African American Spirituals.
