The Bethesda community is pleased to partner with Luther House Campus Ministry, a welcoming outreach ministry which fosters supportive community and faith exploration for students at Yale and other schools in the New Haven area. We support Luther House by providing office space, offering our individual donations of time and money, and praying for them every Sunday.
During the academic year, weekly Taizé Evening Prayer on Yale’s Old Campus, and Tutoring New Haven school students (at Resurrection Lutheran Church in “The Hill” neighborhood of New Haven) provide opportunities for reflection, dialogue, community building, and service. Occasional “Coffeehouse Conversations” welcome students and faculty to interact, with intriguing topics like how faith mixes with politics.
All are welcome to join in any of Luther House’s activities. You are invited as well to add your volunteer energies to this vital young-adult ministry, and you can count on being re-energized in the process! A number of Bethesda members worship regularly and prepare meals for Luther House’s Monday evening Worship service (6pm, during the academic year).
While Luther House serves within the Yale community and is a covenanted partner of Yale Religious Ministries, it does not receive financial support from Yale. Some funding comes from the ELCA and from the New England Synod, but the majority of their support comes from the generous hearts of our donors! Donations large and small (and Thrivent Choice Dollars) keep us strong!
Visit the Luther House website and give Pastor Kari a call or drop her an email to find out how you can partner with Luther House Campus Ministry!
