Tour Leader Pastor Keyl currently serves as coordinator for the synod’s companion relationship.

How is the trip planned?

Trip leaders are consulting with ELCA colleagues and Palestinian contacts to map out an itinerary.  We will have a guide for most of our trip and a chartered bus.  We will stay in Lutheran or Christian Guesthouses, based on double occupancy (you can pick a roommate or I can pick one for you).  If you request a single, the cost will be an additional $400.

What does the $3,850 cost cover?

The costs covers lodging with breakfast, and the total cost includes round-trip airfare from a New York Airport, dinners, room, tips, and all other fees.  Any additional costs will be for lunch, and flight from a different originating airport.  Once we book the flights, I will also offer information about travel insurance, which will incur additional cost.  Please let me know if you prefer a different originating airport.  For previous trips, I made arrangements for most in our group to travel by van or train from my church in New Haven, and will be glad to do that this time.

The only documentation you will need to bring on the trip is a current passport.  Please provide Pastor Tim an indication of your interest with the name that is on your passport, the passport number, date of birth, email address, mailing address, phone number(s), and home congregation.

An initial $500 down payment (check payable to the New England Synod, memo “2017 Companion Synod Trip”) is due by January 1st, 2017. Two additional payments of $1,675 are due May 1st and September 1st, 2017 to the same address with the same memo.  Send to New England Synod, P.O. Box 13, Worcester, MA 01614-0013 Please be sure to also provide Pastor Tim with your contact information.

You must be able to walk up and down hills and on uneven stone streets.
